On 23 March 2020, the UK was placed into lockdown to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic. Following complaints from viewers on social media that the current set of BBC One idents were not good examples of social distancing, BBC One temporarily suspended their standard 2017 idents on 1 May 2020 in favour of a special set of idents that adhere towards the current social distancing guidelines. They remained in use for the remainder of time “social distancing” was advised by the UK Government, with ‘Cat Naps, At Home’ ident the last UK lockdown ident shown at 1:05am on 19 July 2021; the standard 2017 idents were restored immediately afterwards.
