Barry Norman and Elton Welsby introduce live coverage of day eight from Seoul. The centrepiece is the final of the men’s 100 metres at 4:30am – the crowning of the fastest man on Earth – and a potential showdown between reigning Olympic champion Carl Lewis, world champion Ben Johnson and British No.1 Linford Christie. Also on the athletics track today is the final of the men’s triple jump, the first round of the men’s 400m metres and women’s 100m metres, the second round of the men’s 800m metres, and the qualifying round of the men’s javelin. There is also action from gymnastics, swimming, rowing and tennis and Britain’s men face the Soviet Union in their latest group match in the hockey tournament.
